VentureWire Alert

It was a big day for Pragmatech Software. The provider of sales effectiveness and proposal automation applications announced raising $12 million in its first round of financing led by Kodiak Venture Partners and named Al Noyes as president and CEO. Mr. Noyes most recently served as chairman of Excelligence.

Overall, six companies reported raising $38 million, with $8.9 million of that going to TransPharma Medical, a provider of drug delivery technology, in its second round led by Evergreen Partners, with T2C2/Bio, Pitango Venture Capital, VitaLife, and Biomedical Investments also chipping in. And e-mail collaboration software firm Kubi Software plans to launch a server product next quarter and will begin raising a $10-million round of funding later this year, VentureWire has learned.

It wasn't all good news though, as Imperito Networks, provider of software and services for managed network and client security, has shut down and is in talks to be acquired, VentureWire has learned. The company was unable to raise $4 million for the final tranche of its Series C. Founded in 1998, Imperito raised more than $26 million from investors including BEV Ventures, Charter Ventures, and JPMorgan Partners. - By John Fuller
